This topic is dedicated to anyone who is interested in improving his\her English.
When you want to move forward you have to use your language in order to be better, reading alone doesn’t help, also writing.
You should have a combination of all, and here in this topic, I want you to come ahead and speak about anything you want within the terms and conditions of blasma.com.
You can talk about your day, what happened with you, what went wrong with you, what do you think in regards to some issue, or maybe ask a question that is occupying your mind.
My job here and maybe with the help of other people who has superb English experience and fluency "moonlady for example and Johnnie Walker" is to correct your answers in terms of grammar and vocabulary.
So come ahead and speak up.
Best wishes.

As to me, I need such help so much ,cz I have a problem in expressing myself in English ,although I have no problem in reading .

I want to talk about our educational system ,I always think and ask myself :"what can we do to improve our situation ?"
In the past I was told that Syrian universities were so good, but the truth was that I was completely shocked during my first year in the medical school جنيت :no good books ,no good teachers and no benefit from the practical part .
What we had were just bad lectures and bad exam questions .
A fter passing the basic years ,I went to the clinical years and I said to myself :"Now you will learn the real medicine",but I discovered that most of our clinical subjects (not all of them ) were just papers full of rabbish (for this reason most medical students study their عم ادرس !! lectures just for passing exam and thet study extra medical books for good medical knowledge .

My big question :"How can we change ?"
I wonder wether the ability to change is limited just to the high positions people or we can –as students –do something and where can we start from ?

hello every one
it's really nice to see that you're starting such topics coz i truely believe that we need to highlight this issue in our society , considering our "poor" care about language .. which is sth really serious especially for the person dealing with it , coz it would disable him\her from owning good knowladge in several domains ,,, especially in our faculty , coz all the big wide gates of having rich information about medicine are in english ,
so i hope that more people would participate in this specific topic to improve their and our english , so take care and enjoy medicine -if you can-

you don't have to ask anything, all I want you to do is speak-up and think out-loud. and you can chat about almost anything in your mind.
of course the purpose of this topic isn't for you to know me or the other way around, the main goal is to :
- Practice more of your English
- Enrich your vocabulary .
- Enhance your ability to use grammar for your own good without considering it as an obstacle.
- Make reading foreign medicine books easier.

I agree with you :they are working hard ,and I believe in their abilities

-I think you-brave heart
will be a creative pharmacist .

About this website :it is amazing ,Iwould like
to say :thanks to the working team ,May ALLAH help you .

About the last idea you said :

"
I think that the studying situation is related to the student .. and no one other "

I do not agree with you .I think chairmen ,profs and students all of them have a major role in success of the educational process.
Look at our bad courses:who is the reasponsible ?chairmen not students
We -students -can gain good knowledge from other sources, nevertheless we are forced to spend long time atudying some silly coplicated lectures .

What bothers me is that we
spend time and effort as twice as other students in good universities do .

Congratulations on the midterm.. hope you get some time of away from lectures and questions.
please, read the following and give us your opinion.

Megan L. Fix, MD
Chief Resident, Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts; Chief Resident, Brigham and Women's Hospital/Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts.

wrote:

The journey you are undertaking to become a doctor is not meant to be accomplished alone. It is important to find mentors who can help you get through medical school and beyond.

The first step to finding a mentor is to ask yourself certain questions: What are my interests? Can I see myself doing "X"? Am I interested in researching "Y"? Pay particular attention to professors at your institution and identify ones you respect, then find out a little more about what they do. Only you know what inspires you. Once you find something, write it down and make a list of potential interests.

The next step is deciding what your needs are from a mentor. You may be looking for someone to help you maintain your excitement about medicine. You may be trying to decide what career path to take. You may need a mentor to show you how to find balance between career and community service. You may be interested in research, and need someone to help develop your critical thinking skills. Once you have decided on an interest, write down your list of expectations for your potential mentor.

The third step is to identify potential mentors. One way is to meet with your dean and say, "I'm interested in doing some research on X, do you know of someone who would be a good mentor for me?" Another approach is to find an interest group at your school and identify the advisor for that group, then ask him or her who might be a good mentor. If you were inspired by a lecture, you can walk up to the podium at the end and say, "I'm very interested in your work -- would you have any time to meet with me to discuss opportunities to get involved?" Again, keep a list and collect emails and phone contact information.

The fourth step is making contact with your mentor. Believe it or not, most faculty would love the chance to talk with you about what they do. It is a compliment to them that you are interested in their work. I would encourage you to send an email stating, "I am very interested in your [research or specialty or lecture topic]. I wonder if we could set up a time to meet and talk about opportunities for me to get involved." Your potential mentor does not have to be the most respected person in their field, but they must be someone you can talk to and be honest with about your goals.

Remember to think outside the box. You may find that there are no mentors interested in what you like at your school. The next step, then, is to meet with a faculty member you trust and ask where you can find resources. In my case, I was interested in exploring a topic that was not mainstream in my field. I asked my program director to recommend someone, and he gave me the name of the Associate Director for Graduate Medical Education! Even though I had only heard her speak once before and I had never had a conversation with her, I went into her office and scheduled a meeting. That was 2 years ago, and we have been meeting and working on projects together ever since then. I was initially intimidated by the fact that she was much higher up on the medical hierarchy and not in my field, but what I found was that she was approachable, interested, enthusiastic, and most of all, the perfect mentor for me.

Finally, don't give up and don't forget to follow up. If you can't find someone at your school to mentor you, try one of the many mentoring services. For example, the American Medical Student Association's Career Development Program has a mentoring service for members. Many other medical associations offer similar services on their Web sites (see below).

You may find that as you progress through school, your interests change and you might need more than one advisor. Mentors understand this, and a true mentor wants what is best for you. Be appreciative, enthusiastic, and honest with your mentor, and you likely will develop a relationship for medical school and beyond.
